Leaked: new European Visa requirements for Lebanese

Just a few weeks ago, the Arab world woke up to one surprising piece of news.

Plastered all over the media channels, the headlines read “UAE exempt from VISA to all the European territories”.

The reciprocal bilateral short stay visa agreement signed between the European Union and the UAE exempts the latter’s citizens from Schengen visa making it the first Arab country to receive such a visa waiver for its nationals.

Meanwhile in Lebanon, a new list of Schenghen Visa requirements has been leaked and Blog of the Boss is the first to publish it online.

Below is the list of items every Lebanese should present to request a VISA to Europe:

visa europe lebanon

lebanon beirut visa requirements

schenghen embassy beirut access

lebanese list required documents visa

visa schenghen beirut

list items schenghen lebanon

visa access beirut europe lebanese

leaked visa to europe travel

arab lebanon world passport visa

This not-so-serious list raises a very serious question. Why isn’t Lebanon, whose second official language is French, on top of the list when it comes to Schenghen exemption? What are the political or economic obstacles stopping the upgrade of our passport’s international rank?

Should any other items be on the list? Share in the comment box!

Hilarious! And the disclaimer in the end cracked me up because if Lebanese people were desperate enough for the Schengen, they might believe this article!

    • theboss May 22, 2015 9:45 am

Hahaha Sareen! I always get hate messages from people who take things literally. I hope the embassies wont!

  2. Farah Feghaly May 22, 2015 8:28 am

Hahahah Bassem that should definitely be on the list! Will forward it to the EU.

lol kharjna. The lebanese people are so sad. We show off our French speaking ability and we feel more superior to others because of it and we claim a special relationship with France yet we are treated like pakistan and bangladesh when it comes to a visa. Thats lebanon for you

    • John May 22, 2015 3:35 pm

Why do Lebanese people always feel the need to want to be superior to others? What’s so wrong with Pakistan or Bangladesh? Do you seriously think Lebanon is any better? Do you think the laws in Lebanon are followed more rigorously than in those countries to warranty no visa requirement? The fact of the matter is they’re not and we have criminals roaming freely and it will always be like this until we stop supporting the same people who put us here in the first place.

      • Catherine May 23, 2015 4:36 am

        Amen brother!

      • Toni May 23, 2015 9:20 am

John keep on kissing UAE hands, they already bought half London, no more housing for British people in London, harrods, best hotels, the shard and many other iconic buildings are sold to UAE even your football teams and stadiums up for sale! I was in London a year ago . I seriously thought I was in Uae/Pakistan/Bangladesh, You gave up without a fight, and then just conceded your capital. I have NO idea what you (or the rest of Europe for that matter) were thinking. But let’s be clear, London it’s no longer an “English” city. There’s just no English even there. Manchester too I hear. Leeds? Liverpool? I suppose Exeter is still English? . Did you all just run down to Devon or Cornwall and hole up there? At least the Saxons and the Norse had to fight for it. I think Alfred is going to be wondering why he bothered eating burned oatcakes though.

        • Riam May 23, 2015 1:57 pm

Toni, you’re a prime example of Lebanese ignorant chauvinism. Ignorant because it’s Qatar not the UAE (you didn’t even bother to research because why would you? Lebanese know everything, right?) and chauvinism because… Well because it’s chauvinism 🙂

          • Toni May 23, 2015 6:35 pm

Riam you are a true example of a real idiot!!!

            Read the headline again:

the headlines read “UAE exempt from VISA to all the European territories”

          • Riam May 23, 2015 6:53 pm

Again, Toni, you continue to prove me right. Not only an ignorant chauvinist, but also a dumbass.
It’s Qatar who’s buying up the UK not the UA. The Shard is Qatari-owned, Veterans Housing and Hospital, Canary Wharf is Qatari majority shares, Harrod’s? Guess who? Qatar again and the examples are plenty…
But yet, your royal dumbass insists that the Shard, harrods etc… were ‘sold to UAE’.
Research your arguments well next time, don’t throw your ignorance around expecting it to be lapped up as facts.

      • DORIAN KHOURY June 1, 2015 4:01 pm

        JOHN…
WHY IS IT AS LEBANESE WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE PROUD OF OUR HISTORY, AND INDEED HISTORIC TIES TO EUROPE???
IN FACT WITHOUT LEBANON, THERE IS NO EUROPE….
EUROPA CAME FROM LEBANON… READ YOUR BOOKS YOU WILL LEARN SOMETHING… THATS WHY I DONT NEED A SCHENGEN TO VISIT EUROPE AS LEBANESE…. GET IT??
ALSO I AM PART GREEK AND SO ARE A LOT OF OUR COUNTRYMEN WHO HAVE HISTORIC BLOOD TIES TO EUROPE.. WHETHER GREEK OR ROMAN OR MIXED…. WE ARE MEDITERRANEAN PEOPLE… WE JUST SIMPLY DO NOT BELONG TO A WIDER MIDDLE EAST AND ASIA… WE ARE MEDITERRANEAN AND THATS IT… THAT IS WHO WE ARE, LIKE MALTA, SICILY, CYPRUS, THE GREEK ISLANDS AND SARDINIA… THAT IS WHO WE ARE, AND WE UNDERSTAND THEIR MENTALITY, AND THEY UNDERSTAND OURS… AS SIMPLE AS THAT… GOOD LUCK IN YOUR CONSTANT POLITICALLY CORRECT ATTITUDE. WE ARE WHO WERE ARE, AND THATS A FACT. THIS IS FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL NON LEBANESE WHO DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT US. WE ARE A WELCOMING AND EDUCATED PEOPLE IN A VERY UGLY NEIGHBORHOOD. WE ALL WISH THINGS WILL GET BETTER FOR EVERYONE’S SAKE.. I WILL NOT APOLOGISE FOR BEING INTELLECTUAL OR HIGHLY EDUCATED, SO AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, I ALSO DONT LIKE TO BE COMPARED TO OTHERS IN THE WORLD WHOSE PARENTS OR FAMILIES ARE OF LESSER MEANS.. SORRY TO BE DIRECT BUT THIS IS FACT. THE WORLD IS SPLIT BETWEEN CLEVER, RICH AND EDUCATED PEOPLE, AND OTHERS WHO HAVENT A CLUE… I WILL NEVER GIVE AWAY MY EDUCATION AND YEARS OF HARD WORK SOLELY FOR THE SAKE OF A CITIZENSHIP OR VISA IN A FREEZING COUNTRY OR ONE THAT NEEDS ME TO BECOME A LABOURER THERE. I OWN 3 COMPANIES AND BUSINESSES, AND I AM SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE OF WHO I AM, MY FAMILY AND BECAUSE OF HARD WORK AND ALSO GOOD LUCK. SHOW RESPECT TO YOUR OWN SELF, AND OTHERS WILL RESPECT YOU. THIS IS THE WAY OF THE WORLD. I HAVE A MULTI YEAR VISA TO THE UK AND THE US IF I EVER FEEL LIKE GOING THERE TO SPEND MY OWN MONEY, AND EVEN ESTABLISH COMPANIES THERE. I WILL ONLY ENTER A COUNTRY ON MY OWN TERMS, NOT THEIRS… I WILL NOT APOLOGISE TO ANYONE FOR HAVING SELF-RESPECT.. IT CANNOT BE TAUGHT… IT IS BUILT IN… I AM A LIVING PROOF OF HOW TO TRAVEL THE WORLD ON MY OWN TERMS…. THANKS AND REGARDS

        • Rosa September 25, 2015 7:51 pm

If you would only enter a country on your own terms, why did you abide to the UK and US terms to get a visa and be able to travel and spend your money there??
You claim being intellctual and highly educated… but guess what??? Highly educated and intellectual people:
1- do know what freedom of speech is (which John is solely entitled to his opinion. He never came your way, unlike you)
2- what kind of “education” (let alone “high”) taught you to think -and i quote -: “I WILL NOT APOLOGISE FOR BEING INTELLECTUAL OR HIGHLY EDUCATED, SO AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, I ALSO DONT LIKE TO BE COMPARED TO OTHERS IN THE WORLD WHOSE PARENTS OR FAMILIES ARE OF LESSER MEANS.. SORRY TO BE DIRECT BUT THIS IS FACT. THE WORLD IS SPLIT BETWEEN CLEVER, RICH AND EDUCATED PEOPLE, AND OTHERS WHO HAVENT A CLUE… ”
You sir are not any better than those of lesser means! You might be rich (who cares?), but you are not clever and much less educated… You can have all the degrees of the world, your statement shows ignorance, snobism, inferiority and stupidity.
Only those who try to crash less fortunate than make themselves feel superior and better, which they are not.

Last but not least you CAN’T travel the world on your own terms, because anywhere you go, you need some kind of Visa; unless with your Greek Passport, you can travel to US under VWP but are not allowed to do business. You can also travel to UK and many other countries with no Visa becausr of your European Visa. But to do any kind of business, you would need a Visa.
This article was meant for pure Lebanese to show the difficulty to travel without visa. If you are dual citizenship and don’t care, others (not me) struggle to get a visa and travel and seek other opportunities

At last, your writing expressed your true self: how stupid, shallow, ignorant and uneducated snob person you are.

Leave John and his own opinion alone. And do yourself a favor: get down back to earth and stop thinking so high of yourself… it’s one thing to be proud of ones achievements in life, its another to be narcissist believing no one is above you (cause you have higher means than other less fortunate in the world????)
Oh please, go seek a psychologist before your ego gets hurt one day and you wonder why….

Rosa. Thank You for replying. To clarify a few things:
            1. I am a Lebanese Passport Holder- Only- and not a dual national of any other country.
            2. On my terms means abide by all of the country’s rules that welcomes me when I visit on a tourist visa, and then I return. Meaning I respect them and their and so I get respected back.
            3. On my terms also means I dont work for anyone. I work for My company. Not in their country……
            4. Europa is a Lebanese name- go to ancient mythology you will see it there
            5. Kind regards and thank you for your comments that gave me an opportunity to reply

    • Ahmad May 22, 2015 7:46 pm

This is so funny. love that ha ha ha

    • Wael May 23, 2015 5:33 pm

Habeeb. I don’t know where you got the idea that we are better than Pakistan and Bangladesh. If I was EU, I would definitely exempt Pakistan and Bangladesh way before Lebanon.

  9. Bashir Barrage May 22, 2015 1:13 pm

Well then that’s just too bad for them isn’t it? They don’t want us so they won’t have the pleasure to have us. It’s just that simple. I’d much rather spend my time and money where I’m wanted and respected anyway.

    • Mo May 25, 2015 10:52 pm

      Where are you respected!!!!!!!

  10. Fred May 22, 2015 2:23 pm

Very simple, most Lebanese are trying to immigrate, many who get a tourist Visa end up doing everything not to return back. UAE citizens will go to Europe, spend money and come back. Talking French will not add money in your bank.

  11. Georges May 22, 2015 3:22 pm

Well France is full of unemployment. Maybe we should give them a visa to come work here…

    • DORIAN KHOURY June 1, 2015 6:00 pm

I SALUTE YOU GEORGES, AND I SUPPORT YOUR IDEA 100%

  12. John May 22, 2015 3:30 pm

Too funny yet so sad at the same time. Maybe if Lebanon wasn’t a jungle where no laws are followed, we’d be treated like people. Not to mention the fact it’s full of criminals walking free because they know someone who knows someone.

    • Toni May 23, 2015 9:55 am

      John,
In Lebanon you can keep your door unlocked, your car unlocked and guarantee no one would dare touch it, Lebanese have pride and dignity.
You can stand on a motorway and someone would stop and give you lift freely and if you are hungry someone out there will feed you.

In London, most of criminals run away to Spain or the rest of Europe, leaving your door unlocked or car unlocked is a big No No. Even if your car is locked guarantee and most likely it will get stolen and sold as parts!
And if you go out on a Saturday night most likely you hear of someone got stabbed!

I know that we should not be comparing between the two countries, of course London is beautiful and unique so is Lebanon too!

Main conclusion my friend is: this planet belongs to all and what I really don’t understand why some countries require a visa where really it should be free for all to go wherever they like ! Johnny boy always remember you don’t need to live in the matrix. This planet should be free for all ! Feel free to come and visit Lebanon, we will welcome you with open arms but please don’t act that you are superior to us, after all we are all a human race, we are only here for a short time on this planet. Enjoy life instead of debating and calling us all sort of names.
We Lebanese people are not superior, we are just proud to be Lebanese!!!

      • Wael May 23, 2015 5:45 pm

You can keep your door unlocked??? In Lebanon??? That is news to me. All my experience in Lebanon is trying all the time not be cheated on by electricians, mechanics, plumbers, etc. Everything I fix in my house, I have to do it 4 or 5 times before it gets done right. Where is the Lebanese pride and dignity? I like the idea that the planet is free for all. As Lebanese we should lead by example, and open our boarders. It is easier for an African or Far Asian to enter Europe than enter Lebanon (if he/she ever enters). It might take them 3 or 5 months before getting a visa. They get Schengen visa in 2 weeks. We treat a Pakistani University Professor coming to Lebanon to give lectures at our universities, like a low life at our airport. We have no pride. We are egoistic racists, who want everyone to treat us like royalty, while we treat others like slaves.

JOHN EXCUSE ME, BUT WHITE COLLAR CRIMINALS AND BLUE COLLAR ARE THE SAME… THEY ARE CRIMINALS PERIOD. LEBANON IS NOT THE ONLY COUNTRY THAT HAS THEM… OUR PRESS TENDS TO EXAGGERATE EVERY BAD THING IN THE COUNTRY, AND THERE REALLY IS A LACK OF POSITIVE… GO LOOK AT OTHER COUNTRY’S MEDIA… THEIR CRIMINALS ARE OVERSEAS USUALLY, AND USUALLY A COUNTRY WITH A STRONG MEDIA AND ARMY WORLDWIDE TEND TO FOCUS ON NATURAL DISASTERS FOR WEEKS WHEN THEY HIT THE NON-WESTERN MEDIA… HOWEVER WHEN THERE’S A LOCAL NATURAL DISASTER THEY JUST DONT ADVERTISE THEIR DIRTY LAUNDRY AS MUCH… MOST EU CITIZENS AND SO-CALLED RICH COUNTRIES KEEP FOCUSSING THEIR STORIES ON THE ACHILLES HEEL OF A WEAK COUNTRY, AND IT MAKES THEM WEAKER… AND STUPID PEOPLE BELIEVE THEM… IT’S AS IF THE TOP BRASS OF THAT WEAK OR POOR COUNTRY IS INEXISTENT IN THEIR EYES, SO THEY THINK THAT ALL NON EU OR NON G7 COUNTRIES’ CITIZENS ARE ALL IN THE SAME BOAT, AND ARE POOR OR UNEDUCATED…. WHICH IS NEVER THE CASE…. HOW PATHETIC…….

  13. Mohamad Ali May 22, 2015 4:00 pm

This is the funniest thing I’ve seen in weeks, especially the disclaimer at the end!

Photo of a Lebanese crossing over the pedestrian bridge.. I doubt such a photo exists!! hahaha

  14. Joe May 22, 2015 5:40 pm

Man… are you seriously wondering why Lebanon is not granted free border pass to Europe?
no i mean, are you? seriously? because the satire refers to serious un-seriousness… which confuses me… so seriously?

    • DORIAN KHOURY June 1, 2015 4:40 pm

WHY SHOULD ANYONE NOT BE GRANTED FREE ACCESS?
IF THEY INTEND TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY AFTER SPENDING A HOLIDAY, AFTER A CERTAIN TIME, THATS IT…. WHY ALL THESE VISAS AND MOUNTAINS OF PAPERWORK FOR LEGITIMATE TOURISTS? IT’S FUNNY BECAUSE IN THE YEAR 2015 THE EU ACTUALLY REMINDS ME OF AN EMPTY CONTINENT WITH VERY LITTLE SOURCES, HOLDING BACK A RICH MAN FROM OUTSIDE THE EU UNNECESSARILY WHEN ENTERING A BANKTHAT HAS MANY SECRET PASSAGES AND HEAVY METAL VAULTS, BUT WHEN OPENED THERES NO CASH, GOLD OR MONEY IN IT… THE ONLY REAL MONEY IS IN THE MAN’S POCKET!! MY DEAR EUROPE NEIGHBOURS, I READ JAVIER SOLANA’S ARTICLE TODAY REMINDING YOUR FELLOW CITIZENS THAT IN WW1 AND WW2, EUROPEANS WERE FLEEING WORLD WARS WITH ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN THEIR POCKET, AND WERE WELCOMED INTO A SAFE ENVIRONMENT AS REFUGEES IN THE NEIGHBOURING CONTINENTS AND COUNTRIES. IT IS A REAL SHAME THAT RECIPROCITY IS NEVER ADHERED TO, AND THE GOOD DEEDS PROVIDED TO YOUR CITIZENS BY THOSE SAFE COUNTRIES AND ITS COMMUNITIES IS NEVER EVER WRITTEN IN YOUR HISTORY BOOKS. A REAL SHAME. I SALUTE SOLANA, AND I REALLY ADMIRE HIS KNOWLEDGE, AS WELL AS HIS HUMBLENESS IN THE ARTICLE. IT WAS REALLY REFRESHING….

      • DORIAN KHOURY June 1, 2015 5:58 pm

I must add that particularly the northern segments of the EU have little resources (clarification)

  15. gelberSchmetterling May 23, 2015 7:45 am

hahahahaha…this is sad, but hilarious….. my favorite is Nemo 😀 😀
btw, I’m offended you only mention French, you should have mentioned that 0.0000002% of the population speaks German… (yes that’s 1/5M)

  16. Merya May 23, 2015 3:59 pm

French is no longer the second official language. It was removed a few years ago.
Update your info before posing existential questions.

Also, if you take a look at the actual visa document requirements, nothing is absurd. They want to make sure you’re not going to just pack up, leave, and illegally stay there. That you have the resources for your trip and legitimate reasons.

DO bear in mind that it is an embassy and the immigration office of a country and not Dream Park.

    • theboss May 23, 2015 4:13 pm

Thanks for the valuable input Merya 🙂

  17. Carlos May 25, 2015 8:21 pm

Maybe I met the wrong Lebanese while I lived in Dubai, but it was pathetic to see them pretending to be French, disowning their “Arabness” and treating Indians and Pakistanis with such contempt and racism. And all for what? They consider themselves French, and yet the French don’t give a fuck about them!

Speaking French is no reason to grant a visa: most countries which require a Schengen visa do use either English, French or Portuguese.

Europeans of course, are also racist by denying others visas, after going to these countries and stealing all of their resources and slaughtering their people, as they did in Algeria, and countless African countries.

  18. Louay Faour May 26, 2015 7:21 pm

Maybe if our own government takes us and the country seriously then the rest of the world might. Yes, many Lebanese ARE egoistic racists that think they’re superior to everyone, NOT ALL!! I for sure am proud of being Lebanese, and there are several reasons for that and no one ask the stupid question “why?” Just for the sake of asking. As for London, where I was born and raised, yes it’s the qataris which have bought nearly everything… The Brits sit there and complain about their capital being taken away from there in terms of jobs and opportunities and housing yet they barely do anything about it! At least us Lebanese stand our ground and protest and speak out loud when we feel that we’re being put aside or threatened. The Europeans don’t want to give Lebanese visa-free access into Europe or at least make it easier for Lebanese passport holders to enter Europe, then we should do exactly the same. Same applies to the gulf. They make us wait, we’ll make them wait. We’re accused of being superior and what not.. At least we don’t have “blood on our hands”. Lebanon is still facing many issues that need resolving and the world still sees us as a weak and vulnerable nation (unfortunately). But who cares… I love Lebanon and I wouldn’t choose anything over it 🙂

    • DORIAN KHOURY June 1, 2015 4:20 pm

      LOUAY….
I SUPPORT THE MAKE THEM WAIT ATTITUDE THAT YOU HAVE 100 PERCENT. THEY MAKE US WAIT, VERY GOOD MAKE THEM WAIT LONGER AS WELL UNTIL WE REGAIN THE IMPORTANCE OF OUR COUNTRY IN THE EYES OF OTHERS. I WAS TOLD IN THE 60S, THAT EVERYONE WAS MADE TO WAIT REGARDLESS OF CITIZENSHIP, AND THEY WERE ALL WAITING PATIENTLY IN LINE UNTIL THEY WERE ACCEPTED AND ALLOWED THE HONOUR TO ENTER OUR COUNTRY. IT SHOULD BE THE SAME AGAIN… IMPOSE RESTRICTIONS ON ALL AND I REPEAT ALL NATIONALITIES, INCLUDING THE EU, USA, AND ALL THE OTHER SO CALLED HEAVYWEIGHT PASSPORTS, AND THEY WILL ALL COME RUNNING JUST THE SAME WAY THEY ARE RUNNING TO THE INDIAN EMBASSIES LINING UP TO GET VISAS TO ENTER MODI’S TERRITORY… THE SAME SHOULD BE DONE TO EVERYONE ELSE, AND WITH A LITTLE DISCIPLINED AND VERY WELL TRAINED AND VERY HIGHLY EDUCATED IMMIGRATION CIVIL SERVANTS, YOU WILL SEE EVERYONE WISHING TO GO TO LEBANON AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO THE INHOSPITABLE CLIMATES OF OTHER NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES. WE HOPE AND PRAY THAT SOMEONE IN THE POLITICAL SIDE OF THINGS READS MY COMMENTS, AND RESTORES OUR COUNTRY’S SELF-WORTH….. ALL THE BEST FOR LEBANON… GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY… ONE LEBANON FOR ALL…..

    • Dorian ELKhoury October 6, 2015 12:32 pm

100 Percent Agree with your reciprocity of visas idea… it should be implemented… by the way if you do impose visas on eu or other nationals, people from other countries will notice and say oh these guys are respecting themselves, it must be a good country to visit and interest can be sowed
