A Sagesse-Riyadi WORLD CUP moment

An intense World Cup game took place today in Brazil joining two football giants, Italy and England, in a Clash of the Titans type of face off.

Despite the quick pace of the game and the action packed attacks on the offence from both sides, one cannot but stop and contemplate one incident which reminds us of our cherished Lebanese sports scene.

The photo above shows Claudio Marchisio and Giorgio Chiellini of Italy helping Raheem Sterling of England stretch after an injury caused to the latter in his leg.

Now let’s take a look at a not-so-similar photo from a recent Sagesse-Riyadi Lebanese Basketball game.

The photo above shows a huge fist fight breaking out between Sagesse Players and Fans from one side and their Riyadi counterparts from the other.

This is not to generalize and say that we are THE example of lack of sportsmanship nor that international teams are always THE example for high sports values; however, it’s a reminder that sports is not only about training athletes with strong muscles, techniques and tactics but it is also about molding role models with values, principles and a lot of sportsmanship!
